MECS- Minor Eye Condition Service

MECS (Minor Eye Condition Service) is a new trial NHS service in East Kent where a patient, with a minor eye condition and registered with a GP within the eligible area, can be seen by an trained and accredited optometrist to investigate their symptoms; the appointment being NHS funded.

The service cover a range of symptoms that include:

  • Ocular Pain/Discomfort
  • Dry Eyes and Watery Eyes
  • Flashes and or Floaters
  • Red Eye
  • Lumps and Bumps (in or around the eye)
  • Ingrowing Eyelashes
  • Foreign Body
  • Loss of Vision
  • Visual Field Defect (loss of an area of your vision)
