MECS (Minor Eye Condition Service) is a new trial NHS service in East Kent where a patient, with a minor eye condition and registered with a GP within the eligible area, can be seen by an trained and accredited optometrist to investigate their symptoms; the appointment being NHS funded.
The service cover a range of symptoms that include:
- Ocular Pain/Discomfort
- Dry Eyes and Watery Eyes
- Flashes and or Floaters
- Red Eye
- Lumps and Bumps (in or around the eye)
- Ingrowing Eyelashes
- Foreign Body
- Loss of Vision
- Visual Field Defect (loss of an area of your vision)
