Cargills have invested in 4 Digital Fundus Camera’s which can obtain High Resolution Digital Images of the back of your eyes.

Retinal photography is easy to perform and involves a flash of light to capture the images.
We have purposely invested in what are known as non-mydriatic camera’s so we can photograph through normal sized pupils without the need to use drops to dilate them. If you have particularly small pupils and/or cataracts dilation may be required, but y
our optometrist will explain everything to you.
The high resolution image enables a more accurate health check of your eye and enables
us to see more than just using traditional techniques. The photo is quick, comfortable and the result is instantly displayed on the screen to view.
The image also serves as a baseline from which future examinations can be compared to aiding in the earlier detection of disease. It is especially useful if you have a Family History of Glaucoma, Diabetes or early Macular Degeneration (see image of Dry Macular Degeneration).
Your Optomertist will explain your image to you so you can gain a better understanding of your own ocular health.
Retinal Photography is available at all Cargills Practices and costs £10 for both Private & NHS patients, photography is performed at the same time as your eye examination.
Children under 16 years receive the Retinal Photography for Free.
